PBH Nature's Media Amendment
PBH Nature's Media Amendment is a uniquely processed rice hull product from Riceland Foods, Inc. It is used extensively in the horticultural industry as a perlite replacement in growing media and as a container topdress for weed control.
Use PBH as a media amendment . . . PBH is the perfect replacement for perlite in the growing media. Advantages include dramatically less dust plus optimum porosity, drainage and stability with little or no adjustment to fertility and irrigation. A lower basic cost and the potential for using less product can reduce input expense versus perlite. Also good to know is that PBH rice hulls are ready for shipment to growers now . . . during a time when perlite products may not be as readily available.
Use PBH as a container topdress . . . for nursery growers, PBH significantly improves weed control for just pennies per container. A PBH container topdress applied at a depth of 1 to 2 inches prevents airborne weed seeds from reaching the growing mix and germinating, including moss species such as liverwort. At the same time, topdressing with PBH rice hulls reduces hand weeding labor and expense and lessens the potentail for drought stress and watering. It is an economical, earth-friendly approach to weed management.
